Released on the third anniversary of Berry Gordy's sister's untimely death, in 1965,  this ultra-rare album was distributed mostly in the Detroit area. If you have never heard legendary Motown artists such as Marvin Gaye, Supremes, Temptation or Miracles singing gospel (Motown roster is hardly known for their spiritual endeavors), this is your last, best chance. Marvin Gaye’s and Gladys Knight’s renditions truly stand out. If you were wondering where Marvin got his inspiration for his legendary 1971 'What's going on' album -- well, here's the answer. Out of print on CD and unavailable on any format for nearly 20 years. This is the very rare first version of the cover which has absolutely nothing on the front cover except the album title.  Finding a still sealed original copy?!?! Forget it – not even a HOPE!!! This may be the last one you will ever see.

Track listing: Just a closer walk with thee (Gladys Knight) - His eye is on the sparrow (Marvin Gaye) - He (Supremes) - The lord's prayer (Temptations) - Were you there (Martha Reeves & the Vandellas) - Swing Low, Sweet Chariot (Stevie Wonder) - How great thou art (Gladys Knight) - Nobody knows the trouble I've seen (Four Tops) - Rock of Ages (Smokey Robinson and the Miracles) - Steal Away (Voices of the Tabernacle) - Never Grow Old (Voices of the Tabernacle) - What do you choose (Harvey Fuqua).

·       CONDITION:

·       RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ►click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID).

(b)          The record is believed to come in its original stock inner sleeve (we are not sure --- this being a memorial album, Motown may have decided to use plain white sleeves for this title).

(c)           The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
