THE TIME HAS COME FOR ME TO SELL MY SEALED COPY OF MEET THE RESIDENTS, I PURCHASED THIS FOR $3.00 WHEN IT CAME OUT IN 1974 HERE IN PORTLAND OREGON, HOME OF THE INFAMOUS KBOO RADIO, THERE WERE 17 ON SALE, I BOUGHT THEM ALL, GAVE AWAY MOST TO PROMOTE THE RESIDENTS!
THIS ALBUM IS STILL SEALED AND HAS THE $3.00 PRICE STICKER STILL ON IT, THE SHRINKWRAP IS JUST BEGINNING TO COME OFF ON THE BACK, A VERY SMALL SPLIT IN THE PLASTIC YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE IN THE PHOTO.
This Was The First Album by North Louisiana's Phenomenal Pop Combo, Meet the Residents was released on April 1st, 1974, with a striking cover -- a defaced version of the cover of Meet the Beatles, the Beatles' first album from Capitol Records, who could even imagine thier Beatles Gods being defaced like this, it is rumored that either George or Ringo thought the album was funny and bought a copy!!!!
There were initially only 1,050 made, but 200 had to be scrapped, so there were actually less than the 1,000 of the first pressings that is stated on the back of the lp, along with liner notes on N. Senada's Theory of Phonetic Organization, I wonder who that old man N. Senada really was?
This was indeed a differt sort of album, and set the pace for the indie movement here in America, not that there weren't a few underground pieces around, nothing sounded like The Residents!!!!
