Description
Decca Headline HEAD 1-2: Messiaen: La Transfiguration de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, conducted by Antal Dorati. 2 LPs and booklet.
With a superb AUTOGRAPH INSCRIPTION BY MESSIAEN on the inside cover of the gatefold sleeve, personally signed for me after a concert in Manchester on 10 December 1974 which included a performance of the Trois petites Liturgies with Yvonne Loriod as the piano soloist. 10 December 1974 was Messiaen's 66th birthday.
The inscription reads:
En souvenir de la
"Transfiguration"
à Londres (Royal Albert Hall et
Saint Paul's) – et très
amicalement –
Olivier Messiaen
Manchester, 10 décembre
1908 [i.e. the year of Messiaen's birth]
Also SIGNED BY YVONNE LORIOD: 'Amicalement Yvonne Loriod' beneath Messiaen's inscription.
A wonderful Messiaen inscription on the world premiere recording of La Transfiguration (first issued in 1974), one of Messiaen's own favourites among his works.
