The Eagles Hotel California MFSL MoFi Original Master Recording Vinyl LP.

This is the 1983 Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab pressing. Undoubtedly the best pressing of one of the greatest albums of all time. These MFSL pressings are as close as you can get to sitting in the studio listening to the master tape. These are pretty rare and not many of these are offered for sale.

It has the original MoFi protective sleeve and printed cardboard inner describing the MFSL pressing process and a list of many of the early MFSL pressing catalog numbers.

This has been well kept, and is in incredible shape for a nearly 40 year old record.

The jacket is in excellent condition. It is apparent that this was kept in in a poly outer sleeve for most of its life. No noticeable ring wear, incredibly little shelf wear, and very minor corner bumps. It has lived in a resealable poly sleeve in a smoke free home since I purchased it around 2013. There is a 2” seam split inside the gatefold that can not be seen from the outside, see picture provided. Since these MFSL sleeves don’t typically open all the way flat it’s not something I noticed when I initially purchased it.

I’ve played it only a few times. Before posting this I listened to the entire album with headphones and again with speakers. I’m pretty critical during these pre-sale listens. Overall there’s very little surface noise, notable issues described below.

Side 1 Wasted Time has a little more surface noise than the rest of the album. That can likely be cleared up with a cleaning.

Side 2 has a single long scratch that mostly does not impact play. I included pictures of it at the worst angle and straight on. Since it is lined up near the Asylum logo I was able to focus on that specific area while listening to the entire side. On the quiet ending of Pretty Maids In A Row there are 2-3 faint ticks in the left channel otherwise the scratch it isn’t audible. The rest of the album plays clean with an occasional bit of surface noise. This is an extremely good copy.

With speakers the surface noice is nearly inaudible.
