Description
This mono recording is “Miles Davis All Stars Vol. 1., recorded on December 24, 1954 at Rudy Van Gelder’s. it features Miles Davis on trumpet, Milt Jackson on vibes, Thelonious Monk on piano, Percy Heath on bass and Kenny Clarke on drums. Volume 1. Has “Bag’s Groove” on side A and “Swing Spring on Side B. There is an “Ear” stamped on the blank vinyl of both sides of the record. There is no “RVG” or “VAN GELDER” stamped on it, but if it was recorded in Hackensack, NJ, it was recorded in Van Gelder’s mother’s home. The edge of the vinyl record is flat. The address is “446 W. 50th ST, N.Y.C.” on the label. This is a First Pressing and a MONO recording.
I have graded the vinyl as EX as there is a small mark on Side A, and one on Side B, which do not interfere with play. Otherwise, the vinyl is clean. It retains its original shine on both sides of the LP. The spindle hole shows minimal sign of wear but no slippage when played. The sound is clear on both sides. The record jacket is in excellent condition, but it does have a taped seam on the top. The cover does have some wear on both sides and some slight discoloration on the liner notes, due to age.
