Description
Over 25 years ago I began searching for a mint original copy of this famous, ground-breaking LP. Within a few years of pouring over record shops, even in different states, I found this one: the "perfect" original copy. In the years since, I've seen at least eight or nine different vinyl re-issues touting re-mastering, or 180-gram vinyl, or specially compounded vinyl, etc.
But this one is the real deal. The vinyl is mint. The original inner sleeve and outer LP covers are near mint. The LP is housed in a protective plastic LP sleeve.
Sonically, the sound is stirring, organic, a truly top-tier recording. Allmusic.com's 5-star review has this to say about the LP: "Along with Kind of Blue, In a Silent Way, and Round about Midnight, Sketches of Spain is one of Miles Davis' most enduring and innovative achievements. . . . The result is a masterpiece of modern art. . . . Sketches of Spain is the most luxuriant and stridently romantic recording Davis ever made. To listen to it in the 21st century is still a spine-tingling experience, as one encounters a multitude of timbres, tonalities, and harmonic structures seldom found in the music called jazz."
And to think it was recorded between 1959 and 1960. I doubt you will find a better copy of this seminal work anywhere.
