NM: no marks, no evidence of play
NM-: May have one or two very light marks which would not be noticed except for extremely close inspection and which will not affect play.
EX: May have a few very light marks which are nearly invisible and most likely do not sound.
VG+: May have some visible light marks but no feelable scratches. May play with a minimum of noise during quiet passages
NOTE: What distinguishes NM/NM-/EX is the number and obviousness of very light marks visible under a 100 watt bulb or in sunlight. There may be little or no audible difference in actual playing, depending on label, depth of groove, and/or quality of pressing.
