Mosaic box # 106 is a 4 LP set of the complete Blue Note Tine Brooks Quintets. The music contained in the set (22 tracks) includes Brooks' released albums True Blue (1960), Minor Move (1958), and the at-the-time unreleased Back to the Tracks (1960) (BTTT has since been issued on CD, but at the time of this Mosaic box, this was a highly anticipated HUGE revelation). Musicians also appearing on the set include Lee Morgan, Sonny Clark, Art Blakey, Blue Mitchell, Paul Chambers, Freddie Hubbard, Duke Jordan, Johnny Coles, Kenny Drew, and more. The set was issued in 1985, and was just the 6th release from this new label, Mosaic. The vinyl is absolutely pristine - no marks whatsoever. I would be surprised to learn it had ever been played. No spindle marks, no fingerprints, no scratches. The 16 page book has reproduced the original liner notes by Ira Gitler, Larry Kart, and newly created notes for Back to the Tracks by Michael Cuscuna. It also contains a complete discography of Mr Brooks, as well as a history by Robert Palmer, and photos. The book is VG++. The box is VG+ with just the tiniest of the beginnings of a seam split on the top center of the bottom portion of the box. The previous owner taped a 1" piece of tape over a sticker on which he wrote the letters "LP". This sticker is on the out spine. I am not going to try to remove this in case it bothers the set itself...I'll let the buyer make that decision. (see photo) The set is in the mid 3000s of a limited edition of 7500.
