MOUNTAINMAN: same (Camelia LP-200/1971)

My review in The Acid Archives (for which this copy was used) describes this best:

Mountainman is one Ross Arthur Wilson, a Vietnam vet who came home to the Sierras with a message about the problems of the 70's.
A quixotic opening narrative ("Jutting through the clouds of time is a fortress of freedom.") is followed by a roll of crashing drums, settling into a rollicking acoustic version of "Proud Mary", which sets the basic tone for the album, drums still crashing away. Wilson introduces his quavery baritone, which sets the tone of the LP on the following drawn out cover of "Sounds of Silence", where his singing duels with eerie echoed wah-wah shards. This style repeats itself on an even more haunting "Eleanor Rigby" and the album closer, "Lay Lady Lay", though on that, the wah-wah is replaced by tabla accompaniment, which is supposed to give it a jazz inflection (according to the liner notes anyway).
Other songs are more in a folk-rock vein (like a not-so good-timey "Feel Like I’m Fixin’ To Die"), though they are often interrupted by more out-of-place drum crashes. Throughout, no matter the style, one is mesmerized by Mountainman's mellow Arcesia-like style.

The cover is VG+ (very slight wear on spine andseams, with a tiny spot of cardboard showing on one of the bottom seams; light hints of ringwear on covers & inside gatefold; some scratch marks on back - in an area of black ink so it's less noticeable).

The record looks and plays Ex (one scuff line on each side; a few seconds of light crackling at the beginning of each side, as well as the second songs).

GENERAL INFO

SHIPPING: Shipping costs will be quoted based on cost for estimated weight plus $1.00 to cover most of the cost of packing materials.

All records are packed in in between two cardboard filler pads and shipped in professional cardboard mailing boxes. All unsealed  12" records are taken out of their covers to prevent seam splitting. If there is a custom inner sleeve, the record will be put in a separate white inner. If a 7" record comes in a picture sleeve, the same procedure is followed.

GRADING: I grade records both visually and audibly. As grading is so imprecise and subjective, I don't have a set grading description like you see listed in many auction and collector magazines. My grades for  records and covers are based on the overall conditions I describe in each auction; I will note any visual defects and (for the vinyl) any non-musical sounds (pops, clicks, skips, etc.).
