Makers Of The Dead Travel Fast Rare OZ LP Vessels EX M Squared '81 Minimal Synth
Rare Original OZ LP released in 1980 on M Squared Records. Cat: M2005/ YPRX1811.
The Makers of the Dead Travel Fast were formed in Sydney in 1980 as an experimental music group by Greg Addison on guitar and vocals; David Bullock on percussion; Steve Couri on bass guitar; Shane Fahey on synthesiser and vocals; Peter Richardson on piano, percussion and vocals; and Tim Schultz on saxophone, vocals and percussion. The band's name is a quote from Bram Stoker's Dracula. The Vessels was incubated in the Sydney terrace-house studio laboratory of independent record label M Squared and what emerges is a one-of-a-kind aural seduction a still unique recording! Take equal parts Brian Eno, The Residents, the more heretical aspects of Kraftwerk. Mix with the primitive sound experiments of Harry Partch, the piano soliloquies of Erik Satie and the gothic patchwork of a sonic Frankenstein... an underground 'cult' recording is the result. An avant-garde but strangely addictive album of ambient soundscapes, these songs exist on the border between sleep and wakefulness in some peripheral space of deep reflection. Naive freeform sounds combine with beautiful classical melody while the occasional singing provides weirdly wonderful interior monologues from a sleepwalker's diary. The Vessels is a singular and transfixing recording!
