PRESSING

Dark blue label with distinct groove at 1.5 inch radius within label. Thick vinyl with flat edge i.e. no lip at running groove on perimeter of disc. Gold lettering - see photo

CONDITION

Visually, this vinyl passes the harshest daylight scrutiny test. Apart from minimal superficial marks, the sheen is that of a virtually unplayed disc.

Side 1: Very light surface marks. These are not audible except for 11 noticeable ticks near end of side.

Side 2: Surface marks. 15 distinct ticks followed by some barely audible ticks located at beginning of violin playing in ADAGIO.

The music modulation is clean and with no distortion or wear. The tone arm undulates at the edge of the disc both laterally and vertically but this is not audible. (SME series V tone-arm and Ortophon MC cartridge were used in test)

COVER: Clean, complete and without creasing. Laminated front and back. Really, excellent.

This is an original 1954 first pressing. This is confirmed by the fact that there is no groove guard on the edge of the disc.

There are no spindle marks on the labels.

This record has had the most conscientious assessment possible; played on the best equipment, enjoyed and analysed by the finest tuned ears. This has primarily been carried out by a longstanding friend, and I myself, a musician with ears capable of challenging veteran audio engineers, consider him to be one of the keenest and most knowledgeable audiophiles in the country and possibly the planet. I make the last comment with an air of levity but do sincerely believe it to be a possibility. Should extraterrestrial ears wish to take up the challenge, that would be acceptable but preferably from serious bidders with no negative feedback! (Payment terms same as terrestrial bidders.)
