It is also his first collaboration with composer Jim Steinman and producer Todd Rundgren. He started work with producer Jim Steinman on the 'Bat Out Of Hell' horror concept album in 1972, but it was rejected by various record companies before getting a release in 1977. It went on to become a phenomenal success - with sales of over 40 million, and is now one of the most iconic and best-selling albums of all time, combining spectacular hard rock with a theatrical, almost operatic approach.

I had this album years ago when I saw meat loaf in concert. I just bought it again. I am old now but I love it even more. The last song: "for crying out loud I love you" brought tears to my eyes for the words: 'giving me a child now that I'm old" Only an older person could understand how meaningful this is and how wonderful the sentiment. I am so glad I rediscovered Meat Loaf. I wish he would do more work in the studio. He was really something. I recommend this album to all age groups.

This album may be 40 years old, but it's still a true masterpiece to this day. This is fun, operatic, stage musical, arena, rock and roll. The entire album is fantastic, and I always feel marvelous when listening to it. Truly one of the greatest albums ever recorded. A must own album for anyone's music collection.
