Description

Here's a simply AMAZING item...a (inner poly sleeve) SEALED original FIRST PRESSING (?) U.S. Columbia CL 1355 MONO Six-Eye Red Label (with circular "deep groove" 1.25" from spindle hole) of the classic 1959  "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis! The LP is STILL SEALED in the original poly "bag" (plastic) Columbia innersleeve, which, as you know, is perforated for easy opening...the perforations are COMPLETELY in tact, and the LP is completely sealed within...very clean and tidy! The LP is nice and flat as well...machine stamped matrix #s in trailoff are: XLP47324-1AC (Side 1) and XLP47325-1AC. It is RARE indeed to find one of these still in the FACTORY SEALED POLY INNERSLEEVE, and this is a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to own a SEALED ORIGINAL of this JAZZ CLASSIC! We'll grade the cover as a very clean, crisp VG++. (The jacket is NOT factory sealed, and we are not sure if Columbia was using any kind of factory sealing at the time!) The front retains the original "gloss" with just the lightest wear. There is a 10.5" extremely fine, thin, clean, "non-feelable" vertical surface "scratch" front cover (from the "S" in Davis down to the bottom...doesn't detract too much from appearance, and is SO THIN, probably could be colored in nicely if desired. There is another, much less noticeable approximately 6" thin front jacket vertical "scratch" 2" to the left of the mark noted above. Lastly, there is a BARELY noticeable, approximately 3" horizontal front jacket thin, clean surface "scratch" between the 2 vertical marks.  We are being VERY FUSSY describing this...it is a remarkably CLEAN and attractive jacket, especially for a cover this old! There is moderate wear to the bottom seam, most noticeable about 4"  from the opening (with a tiny .75" spot where cover pasteover has worn to the cardboard, and light wear to the top seam, again most noticeable about 3" to 4" from the opening. Back cover is quite nice...clean and white with the just the slightest signs of wear, and a TINY quarter inch closed tear at the top of the back pasteover. From the back, there is a very light surface "crease" from a light bump to upper spine-side corner...but no surface creasing to front corner...this corner is otherwise crisp and sharp!  Side 2 label and back cover state: Flamenco Sketches and All Blues...which seems to indicate that this is a FIRST PRESSING original with the inverted track order! Any other wear is VERY minimal and slight! Our opening bid is LOW, but we do have a reasonable RESERVE for a SEALED MONO FIRST PRESSING ORIGINAL of this ARCHIVAL QUALITY Jazz rarity!
