NARA LEAO: VENTO DE MAIO (1967), PHILIPS 765.006, BRAZIL, MONO, 33 1/3, LP

One of the best albums by the muse of Bossa Nova, Nara Leão. The arrangements are sleek and sensuous, and Leão's vocals seem increrasingly relaxed and serene. Nara flexes her muscle as a song stylist, promoting several up-and-coming songwriters (several early Chico Buarque songs, including "Noite Dos Mascarados," a duet sung with the then-unknown Gilberto Gil; she also sings one of Gil's early songs, the title track), as well as established maestros as Dorival Caymmi, Vinicius de Moraes and Ary Barroso.

Rare original Brazil LP. Jacket open on top and bottom, as usual in pressings from this country of this era. Cover has some creases, light staining and residue from tape on top and bottom (see picture). Signature on front and back cover. = VG+

Record has some crackling on the first track, light scuffs on the last track of side 1. Otherwise, for the remaining bulk of side 1 and 2, there is only occasional light fizz, nothing serious. = VG+

All of my records are carefully packed in sturdy cardboard mailers. I will add two cardboard supports, and the record will be out of sleeve to prevent seam splits.
