"WESTERN REUNION - LONDON 1965" - - NEIL ARDLEY AND THE NEW JAZZ ORCHESTRA - - DECCA LK4690 - - SUPER COPY OF THIS MEGA RARE 1965 ORIGINAL UK BRITJAZZ RELEASE OF OUTSTANDING JAZZ !!! - - Wow!!!! - - what an awesome live session this is of this ground breaking, fantastic orchestra of some of Britain's finest !!! - - This, their first foray into the recording studio, is, as you will hear, greeted with ultra enthusiasm from the assembled audience and beieve me it warrants every cheer !!! - - The brilliant Ardley, has assembled here a magnificent set of young blood talent, the average age being just 23 years of age, it is really quite unbelievable !!! - - This session is made up of 9 trax, that includes some stunning arranging and soloing from all members.....they include, Ardley's own classic, "Shades of blue", 2 Miles originals in, "So what" & "Milestones", a beautiful version of "Django" and plays us out with a roaring Ardley arranged version of, Gerry Mulligan's superb title track, "Western reunion", plus 4 more, awesome numbers !!! - - Amongst the assembled throng are such mega musicians as, Ian Carr, Bob Leaper, Johnny Mumford, who plays some storming trombone solos, Trevor Watts, Barbara Thompson and Dave Gelly are among the excellent reed section, plus a superb rhythm section in, Mike Barrett, pno, Tony Reeves, bass and the superb John Horler on drums !!! - - The jacket rates a strong EX+ grading, with excellent seams and spine ( with just VERY SLIGHT age discoloration to the unlaminated back - see photos), ALL SLEEVE NOTES ARE PERFECTLY CRISP AND CLEAR ! - - The disc is gleaming clean with excellent blood red labels and plays superbly with just a couple of isolated,MINISCULE tics in just a couple of places and plays overall, SUPERBLY, (play tested in it's entirety, at 2.2 gms using an Ortofon Concord Pro Tech cartridge) - - Now increasingly difficult to find, this is a rare chance to acquire a really nice copy, of this rare and magnificent, Britjazz LP !!! - - Offered on auction with NO reserve, thankyou for your interest and good luck with your bidding - - £19.99
