Original 1989 Westwood One double LP radio show with cue sheets. Radio promo and interview that came out for the Carpenters' 20th anniversary to promote the release of 'Lovelines'. Many of the tracks featured on this set were previously unreleased at the time (prior to the From The Top boxed set in 1991) and one track "Strangers In The Night" (from the RCA sessions) still remains unreleased. Richard and Phil Ramone talk candidly about many of the hits, Karen's solo tracks, Magic Lamp, their sound, the move to L.A., Rod Temperton's arrangements for Karen, the RCA sessions, their camaraderie and Karen's death. Songs include "We've Only Just Begun", "For All We Know", "Lovelines", "Looking For Love", "Rainy Days And Mondays", "Little Girl Blue", "Goodbye To Love", "Where Do I Go From Here", "Remember When Lovin' Took All Night", "Hurting Each Other"," Strangers In The Night"," If We Try", "Yesterday Once More", "When I Fall In Love", "Sing", "If I Had You", "Top Of The World", and "(They Long To Be) Close To You".
This item is the double album release from Westwood One and the Mutual Broadcasting System entitled Now, Then and Always - A Carpenters Special. This program has a complete playing time of approximately 85 minutes, and was originally issued for broadcast the week of November 20th to 26th, 1989, to coincide with the release of the Love Lines album. The program is narrated by Sylvia Amerito and features extensive chronological interviews with Richard Carpenter, covering everything from the beginning days in 1970 of the Richard Carpenter Trio and the Magic Lamp label single (Looking For Love is included here) to some of the Karen Carpenter solo material and the release of the Love Lines album, commemorating the 20th anniversary with A&M Records. The records have custom Westwood One labels and are labeled "For Broadcast the week of 11/20 to 11/26/89.
