Nick Drake / Scott Appel - nine of swords rare mint lp

Description

This is a totally mint, unplayed lp by Scott Appel released in 1988 (Kicking mule KM343 - bright yellow label).

Most Nick Drake fans will know about this album, but for those who don't here's a brief explanation:

Scott (an accomplished US guitarist) talked to Nick's parents (Molly & Rodney) and visited them. Somehow he managed to gain thier confidence & they allowed him access to some unreleased Nick recordings & notes. From these Scott put together this album. It includes tunes by Nick such as 'Bird flew by', 'Far Leys', 'Our Season', 'Place to be' & 5 Scott originals.

The unreleased tunes were not recorded by Nick & these versions by Scott are our only way to hear them at present.

I'm a Nick Drake fan myself & I can't honestly say that I like cover versions of his stuff, but this album isn't that simple - it was made with the co-operation of Nick's parents & includes tunes not available anywhere else. In addition this project seemed to help broaden the hopes for further Nick outtakes coming to light.

A must for Nick completists & collectors. Also, simply a nice album of acoustic guitar virtuosity.

Thanks
