Norman Granz The Jazz Scene — a rare boxed set of two 10-inch 33RPM vinyl LPs with performances by jazz legends Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, and others, recorded in 1948 and 1949.

• Text by Granz on the inside box cover says: "This is my attempt to present The Jazz Scene, as it exists today, (the recordings in this album took place between 1948 and 1949), in the best possible fashion...The idea behind this album was simple: to get the artists best illustrating today's jazz scene to record the essence of themselves musically...We intend to make The Jazz Scene a yearly affair presenting new jazz artists as they appear."

• Condition:  The records are in excellent condition. They play beautifully, with no hiss, skips, or scratches. The sleeves are in fine shape, with no marks or writing. A previous owner has written "1948-1949" on the first page of the liner notes. The plastic coating on one side of the box cover has started to loosen and is getting ready to flake off. The box itself is sound, with no wear or damage. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.

• Like the original 1949 78 RPM version of The Jazz Scene, this boxed set is long out of production and very hard to find. It is undated and was produced in the early 1950s.
