Description
THE HOLY GRAIL OF NORTHERN SOUL 45 INSTRUMENTALS.
UP FOR AUCTION IS A COPY OF TOUGH GIRL BACKED WITH TOUGH GIRL (INST.) BY BILLY ARNELL AND THE SPARKLES ON THE HOLLY LABEL 1001-A - OUT OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
THE WAX IS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS, IT HAS SOME SCUFFS, LIGHT SCRATCHES.
THE OVERALL SOUND QUALITY IS VERY GOOD.
THE LABEL SHOWS SOME WEAR AND TEAR ON THE HIGH POINTS WHERE IT RUBBED AGAINST OTHER 45'S.
IT HAS A SMALL PEN MARK ON THE A SIDE.
THIS IS A SUPER RARE RECORD FROM THE 1960'S AND JUST IN CASE YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS ABOUT THE EXTREME RARITY OF THIS 45, I BELIEVE THERE HAVE ONLY BEEN 8 OTHER COPIES SOLD ON E-BAY IN THE LAST 16 YEARS - EACH HAS SOLD BETWEEN $1200 AND $1900.
IN THE DEAD WAX IT HAS H 1001-A AND A LITTLE FURTHER AROUND THE RECORD IS A L WITH A W ON TOP OF IT. THE FLIP SIDE IS ABOUT THE SAME IT EXCEPT IT SAYS H1001-B WITH A LW.
THE LABEL STATES HOLLY NEWARK, NEW JERSEY ON THE TOP TO THE LEFT IS APEX-MARTIN (BMI) 2:50 ON THE RIGHT IS JOSHER PROD. ED. RICE, ENG. 1001-A (1001-A) AT THE BOTTOM IT READS TOUGH GIRL (L. HEMSEY) BILLY ARNELL AND THE SPARKLES ARR.; L. HEMSEY FLIP IS SAME EXCEPT FOR 1001-B AND INST.
THIS WAS THE BIGGEST INSTRUMENTAL RECORD PLAYED AT WIGAN CASINO IN THE LATE 1970's AND STILL PACKS THE DANCE FLOORS AROUND THE WORLD WHEN EVER IT IS PLAYED TODAY.
WELL I THINK I'VE TOLD YOU JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING I CAN ABOUT THIS SUPER RARE NORTHERN SOUL 45. GOOD LUCK IN YOUR BIDDING.
This item is advertised for sale elsewhere and may be removed from sale, I may accept a buy it now for offers over £1000, e-mail me if interested.
On 27-Feb-13 at 16:55:18 GMT, seller added the following information:This Instrumental side of this 45 can be found on the CD :- "FOR MILLIONAIRES ONLY - Volume 2"
On 01-Mar-13 at 17:49:45 GMT, seller added the following information:100% Original with the vocal on 1001A side and the instrumental on 1001B side.
I believe the instrumental has never been pressed or booted, the light green 1970's boot was vocal on both sides, so this is the only way to get the Instrumental on vinyl 45.
