First class postage is $2.50 in US, with extra charges for insurance. Without insurance, I will not be responsible for lost or damaged packages.

Postage in UK and Japan is $6 for regular air mail. I recommend registered mail (about $13) for expensive packages, as it is safer. Insurance is available for overseas airmail, but is expensive and would necessitate declaring package at full value.

Without this insurance, I am not responsible for lost or damaged packages. I purchase a certificate of mailing for each overseas package which certifies I have mailed the item. It does not provide payment for lost packages.
