We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Long long gone impressive 2nd-press in triple thick cardboard cover, The BEST issue next to the impossible to find highly sought and paid ($2000) 2nd-press. This issue went in and out of print fairly fast, no surprise. Supply and demand is through the roof for reason being the HUNGER LP is equaled to any classic psych LP within the entire sixties.
Rated as "incredible West Coast heavy psych-rock" by pretty much anyone who knows. The album was recorded and released in 1969 ...
So in a nutshell, the album is a thorough full-tilt thriller, filled with wall-to-wall infectious 'sticks in the mind' capabilities... all self penned original gems. Major labels (Elektra, etc) blew it big time ignoring/rejecting this band. More often than not major labels employ personnel who have a very limited scope, so their ignorance figures.

Hunger! was originally from Portland Oregon, but moved to Los Angeles in the late '60s and began to attract some attention by being an opening act for such top bands as The Doors and The Strawberry Alarm Clock. (NOT equal with the former, blowing away the latter.)

In 1968 the band released its only album, "Strictly From Hunger!", which became too many years later, a top sought item with virtually all global psychedelic collectors which posthumously established the band firmly in the top league within the California psychedelic underground rock scene.
The album that was originally released for the Public label in 1969, was the second incarnation of the same album that originally featured the guitar work of Ed King, who would later play with the Strawberry Alarm Clock and Lynyard Skynyrd. The material on the album is semi-heavy psychedelic rock with influences from the Doors and Jefferson Airplane, but in all actuality, their own stamped sound. The music of Hunger contains a decidedly more ominous overtone than most psychedelic music of the era, it did reflect a particular period in the history of the West Coast music scene and contains particularly strong songwriting.

The HUNGER featured long swirling organ driven passages mixing with piercing guitar lines between the fantastic songwriting as featured in the majority of their songs.
Songs like "Workshop," which delves into your thought processes and dreams; very introspective and thought provoking, and bottom line is great musically. "She Let Him Continue" is a psych-rock gem from the all-time vaults. With all of the sound effects (which were fairly new at the time) and the strong vocal inflections from the pipes of Bill Daffern (drums), the song still sounds as hauntingly fresh today as the day it was laid down in the studio. Mike Parkinson normally handled all the vocals. John Morton (lead guitar), Steve Hansen (rhythm guitar), Tom Tanory (bass) were the core of the group that supported the great songwriting and vocals. "Portland" has a stunning instrumental passage.The potential for moving more into fusion was evident in their music right from the start. You can hear elements of just about every genre (jazz, blues, pop, rhythm & blues all mixed in the hard-psych whirl), although you must listen very carefully to hear it all, you'll be compelled to play the LP over and over. Every song serves as an excellent example of cross pollination of off the so-called boundaries of the '69 era rock music formalities. They were so much more than the psych-rock band which makes "Strictly From Hunger" as perceived as one of the best US psych LPs ever released!
