An extremely rare, original and highly collectable piece of classic vinyl. This is a UK factory sample test pressing in stereo bearing cat. serial no. SAL 5041 . This LP's first pressing was only ever released in mono in the UK on ATL 5041 so this is indeed extremely rare, dare I say almost impossible to find nowadays.

Initially in 1966 the Otis Blue album was released to the UK public on the plain 'plum' coloured Atlantic label (silver lettering) but only in mono no. ATL 5041 . Later, it was reissued in stereo format on Atlantic 588036 (maroon & orange label).  Because this first stereo pressing was never released , no cover was ever printed , as far as I can ascertain. It has always been housed in a plain card cover as it is here. This has been in my ownership for many years and is in the same condition as when I acquired it.

Handwritten labels, not all the tracks are listed on labels (see pics).

Tracks are....Ole Man Trouble , Respect, A Change Is Gonna Come, Down In The Valley, I've Been Loving You Too Long, Shake, My Girl, Wonderful World, Rock Me Baby, Satisfaction, You Don't Miss Your Water.

VINYL....grades around VG-/G+ . It plays better than it first appears visually. There is no serious distortion, no skips, no loud clicks, no groove wear. Visually there are tiny/wispy cosmetic surface scratches and a few superficial longer ones on each side but none are deep and none cause major interference (no nailcatchers). It plays through well with varying mild to moderate surface crackle.  Still highly playable and listenable with clearly defined stereo channels.  The labels are undamaged and have some of the track titles and serial no./matrix details hand written in pen.

It's as rare as hens teeth and a good thing to own. You may have a very long wait to find another. Please remember...just don't expect a mint/excellent copy.

Record Gradings

Mint = Unplayed, undamaged, possibly still sealed in shrinkwrap. Accompanying booklet, lyric sheet or poster should be perfect. Should play without fault.

Excellent = Played but very well cared for, may have some hairlines or paper grazes on playing surface but none which are significantly audible although perhaps the occasional micro-noise similar to static may be present. Cover may have very light general wear or crease/light corner fold but no rips/splits.

Very Good = Played many times but plays well without major deterioration in sound quality. Playing surfaces may have some marks and /or a few superficial scratches which will be no more than lightly audible . Cover and paper contents may have general signs of usage and storage without significant damage.

Good = Heavily played with noticeable surface marks and/or scratches which will be audible, possibly throughout. No skips or jumps despite the prescence of some crackles, clicks and pops. Cover and paper contents may have heavy creases, edge scuffs, stains, annotations, splits and discolouration.
