Ladies and gentlemen, we have a case. This is the legendary LED ZEPPELIN "Whole Lotta Love" acetate vinyl. In 1969, this song was only produced for promotional purposes in the UK, and was never released as a single to the general market, but early in the year 2022, a 10" acetate with the sound groove engraved on one side was secretly discovered in a certain place. After persistent negotiations, we have succeeded in handing it over to our shop, and now it is available for sale.
The label is numbered 588 198-A-4 in addition to the artist/title name. The label is numbered "588 198-A-4" in addition to the artist/title name. 588 198 is the standard number for the English version of "II", but what "A-4" refers to is currently unknown. The number is different from the 584309 number of the single disc above, which suggests a story of twists and turns in the background.
The condition of the vinyl is poor due to poor storage (probably in contact with the plastic lined inner bag etc) and there is a certain amount of discolouration, especially on the surface. As a result, there is a lot of noise throughout, which has a significant impact on the sound. In addition, there is a loop at the beginning of the vocal, which makes normal listening difficult. However, if you are familiar with acetate vinyl, you may be able to understand that this is a typical condition of acetate.
I have dealt with a lot of acetates in the past, but the only ones I have ever seen were British promotional singles and US 7" acetates. Both of these are of course extremely rare, but the rarity of this one must be world class. It is not recommended for listening purposes, but it is an excellent source of information, and the estimated number of copies in existence is less than a handful. We hope that you will appreciate the significance and the pleasure of owning one of the finest examples of this class S material in rock history.
