Ornette Coleman - An Evening With...

(Polydor 623 246/ 247 UK Double LP 1967)

This is an original Stereo Double LP Box Set pressing. It seems to be a UK pressing. However, the records are possibly pressed in Germany for the UK market. It has english text around the label perimeter. Unfortunately, the box is quite tatty. However, the records are very nice & clean. Playback is Excellent overall too. It includes its original Booklet too.

This double album has a hard card outer box which is hinged at the spine. The front panel is printed on slightly textured and glossy card. Both records come with their original polythene-lined plain paper inner sleeve. It also, as stated, comes with its original 8 page Picture/ Information Booklet. The records are pressed on thick vinyl & have black "Polydor" labels which have a red logo. The record have 1st press A-1/ B-2/ A-1/B-1 matrix stampers. "1967" is machine stamped in the dead wax on all four sides.

A great live performance from Croydon, UK in 1965. This is a genuine UK 1st pressing. These are not that common. I have some other rare & collectable 1960's, early 1970's UK & USA Jazz LP's for sale too. So please see my other listings.

Box: Sadly, as stated, the box is quite worn. There is considerable rubbing wear along the top front and back edges (see photo). This is only on the front part of the box set. There is moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the corner tips. This, again, is only on the front part of the box set. There is a 1.5 cm area, on the bottom edge - at the spine area, where a piece of the outer cover has worn away, or been torn, and has exposed the plain card underneath (see photo). There is mild, moderate or considerable rubbing wear on the front & rear spine edges on some areas. There is a 1.5 cm seam split at all four corner tip seams on the front part of the box set only. There is a small area of sticker residue/ wear on the front (see photo). There is light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on some areas on the front & back of the box set. Overall, Good condition.

The Booklet is in Near Excellent condition. It is totally complete & there are no tears or loose pages. There are some light, mild, very mild or very minor handling creases on some pages. The staples have not rusted.

Vinyl 1: There is a very tiny 0.5 cm hairline surface mark on Side 1. This is not that noticeable. There are a few light, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. Overall, NEAR EXCELLENT condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition & show minimal spindle wear only. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & creasing. There is some more moderate fading. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Near Excellent to Excellent overall & Excellent+ in many places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. Overall, an Excellent audio copy!

Vinyl 2: There is a little finger-tip sized area of mild surface rub marks on Side 4. This is not that noticeable under a strong light. There are a few light, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on a few areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. Overall, a strong EXCELLENT condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition & show minimal spindle wear only. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
