FAR BEYOND BOOTLEG- LIVE FROM DONINGTON '94
Originally included on the second disc of the Far Beyond Driven reissue, Far Beyond Bootleg - Live From Donington '94 is now available on LP for the first time. The show captures the band - singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell, bassist Rex Brown and drummer Vinnie Paul - in top form, shredding through nine songs in 40 minutes. Recorded at the Monsters of Rock Festival in Donington, England on June 4, 1994, the performance features classic Pantera tracks taken from the band's three most recent albums including: "Use My Third Arm" and "Strength Beyond Strength" from Far Beyond Driven, "Walk," "Mouth For War," and "This Love" off of Vulgar Display of Power, plus the title track from Cowboys from Hell as well as the live staple melding "Domination" and "Hollow."
VULGAR DISPLAY OF POWER
Pantera's second landmark album in a row, 1992's Vulgar Display Of Power, cemented their reputation, with Dimebag Darrell's strafing leads making him the newest poster boy for electric guitar mayhem. Anselmo's dark lyrics and fearsome roar pressed him to the front lines of metal's most compelling frontmen, and the videos for such songs as "Mouth For War," "This Love" and "Walk" (which turned Anselmo's intimidating refrain of "Are You Talkin' To Me!?!" into a rallying cry) became three of the most popular clips on MTV's Headbangers Ball.
FAR BEYOND DRIVEN
By the time Pantera released 1994's Far Beyond Driven, the quintet was the most popular metal band on the planet, and as did its engaging predecessor, Vulgar Display of Power, the album shot straight to the top of the Billboard charts. Amazingly enough, Far Beyond Driven features an even heavier and more extreme sound than on previous releases due to Dimebag Darrell's down-tuned and heavier sludgy guitar playing and singer Phil Anselmo's increasingly autobiographical lyrics. Highlights include "I'm Broken," "Becoming," "Shedding Skin," and "Slaughtered."
