PINK FLOYD : ANIMALS A2/B2
This rare A2/B2 pressing is absolutely stunning and is easily on a par with the best first pressing I have ever seen and heard. A comprehensive play grading is described below. Not only is this a fantastic first press but it is also one of the earliest issued as denoted by the stamper codes - GM 1 on both sides.

Visual grading
Under a bright light this record is in amazing condition. You can only detect the faintest of hairlines obviously due to sleeve removal. There are two slightly more obvious hairlines at the beginning of each side but they have no bearing on the audio whatsoever. For an A2/B2 pressing you honestly will not get much better than this. Visually it is stunning.
Play grading
I run out of superlatives to describe the audio on this LP! It is quite simply stunning. For nearly 40 years old the audio is so clear and plays with incredible depth. The whole of Side One plays with almost zero static. With vinyl you of course expect to hear some 'deterioration' after 40 years but it is almost non-existent here. I heard just one dull sounding click during the entire play testing. There is almost no lead in static either which is so rare. If there is any fault, and I'm being picky here, there is slight distortion towards the end of 'Dogs'.
Side Two continues in the same way. There is minimal static at the beginning of 'Pigs (Three Different Ones)' but is so quiet it is barely noticeable. It plays again with impeccable audio, almost as Mint. There is just one click during the whole of this opening track. 'Sheep' again is a fantastic listen. It plays with just a hint of very light static here and there but perhaps there is no point in mentioning as the audio is just of such a high standard. Most sellers I am sure would grade this LP as Mint or Mint- it is that good. The audio is so crisp and so clear and plays with very little interference. 'Pigs On The Wing2' ends proceedings with almost no background noise, a wonderful ending to a fabulous record!
Gatefold cover
The original G & L gatefold cover only has mild shelf wear and is without doubt one of the best I have seen. It is extremely clean and well maintained with only minimal rubbing on the edges. As you can see from the photos the front cover is stunning, in great condition for a first press gatefold. There are just a few minor creases around the edges. The wide spine retains its shape and strength extremely well. The inside and reverse are in excellent shape also with barely any wear. You can see just one small indentation on the reverse side.
It has no bar code as per the first presses and also has the front edge of the gatefold sealed with a foldunder.
Lyric sleeve
The cardboard lyric inner has the rounded corners as per first pressings. What is so rare is that this one does not have any splits to the sides, so common with this sleeve! Just a couple of minor creases. It has the 9-inch notch on the edge that opens and in the lower right corner is the catalogue number "SHVL 815(I)"
Labels
Practically as new they only have the slightest of spindle wear.
