Description
This superb condition first uk pressing will be visually graded strictly by "record collector" magazine gradings. The audio will also be described having been played on a b&o beogram 5000 deck with mmc4 cartridge. This album being nearly 40 years on has absolutely superb audio and was known for being very hard to keep the sleeve clean as it was never laminated. It has all the usual characteristics to confirm as the very first pressing with 1g mother stamper matrix numbers. I will break down the description in paragraphs and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask but the pictures also speak volumes for this lovely album.
SLEEVE// The sleeve grades very easily in excellent condition probably ex++/ -nm. The bottom edge has very very minor edge rubbing and on the right hand corner at the bottom where the sleeve opens but it really is minor see the close up pics. Printed by "Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd" it has 7010 TPS printed on the inside left hand corner. The sleeve having been stored away from bright light and in a vinyl record box was also stored in a pvc outer sleeve and does not smell ! as some old albums do you will know what i mean. The sleeve is very vibrant colourwise and has absolutely no yellowing see the pics of this.I can see one tiny crease on the sleeve from handling but im just being very critical when really it is negligible as its so small. The spine is in beautiful condition with no wear to the writing and it is still very square as the day it was made see the pic of this.
INNER// The white blue boxed inner has no splits is stamped made in england with patent number and again has no yellowing and is poly lined. There was also a harvest inner on first pressings too as stated on pink floyd discographys.The inner is in excellent condition. LABELS// The labels are near mint with a very tiny amount of spindle marks ex++. The labels have no EMI logos but does have "THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD on the outer edge of the labels indicating this is the ultimate first pressing. VINYL// The vinyl graded visually is in excellent+ condition it has great sheen to it with only the mearest wispy marks from removing and replacing from sleeve. From memory this was only ever played a maximum of 7 or 8 times. On side 2 there is 1 very very light scuff measuring about 1cm but it in no way affects the performance or audio ive checked this and it is so very minor im being very critical.Matrix number on side1 is SHVL 781 A-1G then futher round it reads T then 1. on side2 its SHVL 781 B-1G then further round it reads GP which is machine stamped sideways then 2. So thats it a very hard to find first pressing in great condition. Having listened to the whole album it takes me back a bit lots of different memories but anyway the point being it sounds immense and plays through both sides from start to finish without jumps or skips and sounds fabulous with absolutely no deterioration whatsoever. The winning bidder will never have to upgrade this it sounds very vibrant and powerful. I have placed a reserve on this but it is only fair to let you know it is not that high considering the quality of this particular pressing. GOOD LUCK BIDDING!!!!!!price rating
