In January 1972 Pink Floyd began their new tour in Brighton Dome, UK - opening with their newly composed album tentatively named "ECLIPSE" - which we know they eventually changed to
"THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON".
That night was fascinating as they set up a 4-speaker system, took an interval after the first set, and then played music from Meddle and older tunes.
Amazing!
Still it was another whole year and 2 months before this lp saw release!
The issue with the lable was that I found it hard to read the song titles because they are Silver on a Light Blue background. Very unusual, but soon changed for the subsequent pressings.
This of course means that it's simple to define which are the very first pressings!
Here then is one of these initially first issued albums.
Sadly the posters and stickers were used and discarded long ago, so they're not included here.
The disc plays well with a little light static at the very beginning, but this dissipates.
Still an absolutely brilliant piece of progressive psych, and never getting boring.
Probably the most groundbreaking and imaginative record of our times.
CONDITION;
The VINYL grades VG+ visually, due to a couple of surface scuffs. Soundwise though the album plays closer to EX as it goes on.
Lables are EXCELLENT.
no pen or stickers, bright and clean.
The GATEFOLD Cover grades VG+ to EXCELLENT, light wear only.
The left gatefold is enclosed - the first prints were made with either a 'flipback' enclosure or a closed edge, perhaps not to 'hide' the original inserts.
The original poly-lined custom inner is included, the disc will be mailed in a new white lined inner.
