PINK FLOYD - MEDDLE
Increasingly hard to find and overall excellent condition 1971 UK 1st press Floyd prog gem
Year/Label : 1971 UK HARVEST Label number : SHVL 795 Matrix numbers : SHVL 795 A - 1U, SHVL 795 B - 1U Stampers : 1 GM / 1 RExcellent (EX) condition vinyl) - completely flat, weighty and retaining a beautiful jet black lacquered sheen, coming across as unmarked in normal daylight and it is only with close inspection under a bright light that just a few very faint wispy hairlines and equally faint paper scuff lines come into view on each side - nothing obvious, nothing feelable (obviously), and all appearing to be purely superficial. The labels are in excellent plus (EX+) condition - with close inspection it is possible to identify some very small and extremely faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label, otherwise perfect! Note the absence on the labels of the "EMI" box, indicative of a very 1st UK pressing (along with the "1U/1U" stampers). Clearly this is a record that has been sparingly played and well looked after. Excellent (EX) condition non-laminated and fully textured (inside as well as on the outside) iconic Garrod & Lofthouse outer gatefold sleeve with firm and largely unscuffed edges (just some minor sporadic very light scuffing on the bottom edge), a firm spine also (again with some minor intermittent light scuffing) with all spine text remaining perfectly intact, nicely defined right angled corners with minimal rubbing on each, firm opening edges with no fraying, and all photos, text, and beautiful art-work remaining vibrant, crisp, and wonderfully defined. The only other blemishes (trivial) are a very light 13cm horizontal scuff line on the reverse side at the bottom left corner (see photo), and a very slight flattening of the gatefold resulting in the open side edges becoming very slightly offset. The fragility of these fully textured 1st UK press gatefold sleeves cannot be overstated so coming across one in condition as truly impressive as this (though not perfect but certainly an overall excellent) is indeed rare : this iconic 70's gatefold sleeve remains fully functional and eminently presentable and hard to believe that it is now 54 years of age! Superb, excellent plus (EX+) sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats or distortion - wonderful tone and crystal clear stereo reproduction with brilliant hard-to-fault stereo sound quality throughout. The only aberration (short lived and minor) is the transition from A1 to A2 ("One Of These Days" to "A Pillow of Winds") where there is a small 40 second passage containing a few very, very light clicks and some intermittent and very, very low level background crackle - nothing to detract from the brilliant listening experience but I mention it all the same. Comes with original excellent condition poly-lined EMI/Harvest advertising inner sleeve with no side splits, no tears or edge fraying, and just some very minor age discolouration and light creasing. Note that I always ship the vinyl (in this case vinyls) in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. A truly excellent condition copy of this 1971 UK 1st press Pink Floyd classic, increasingly hard to come by in such impressive condition as this.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
