A true 1st pressing of the Pink Floyd classic Meddle on UK Harvest 1971. Matrix A1U/B1U. Stampers 1RD/2RO. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original textured [inside and out] wider spine cover. This is one of those holy grail copies that people hanker for because of the sheer audio quality - but often the preservation disappoints. I'm pleased to report that this vinyl is preserved like no other and the audio is truly superb.
Vinyl (Ex+) Looks shiny like the day it rolled off the press and has clearly seen very very light use. Under close inspection we could not make out a single mark. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. The intros and inbetweens are beautifully quiet. The audio comes across with perfect clarity and barely a hint of interference. I certainly have never had the pleasure of listening to one of these copies this well preserved and imagine it is very very unusual. We are in no way banding about an (Ex+) rating lightly on this LP...it really is very very difficult to find one that has truly been carefully looked after and plays back to a standard of Ex+ [properly]. Even copies that have seen light use, or look mint, often can reveal a bit of background. The low-key audio on this album will reveal every single imperfection so it needs to be very very good. We didn't detect more than a couple of ultra light static crackles in a couple of places [e.g. intro side 2]. So, it really has been very carefully looked after...As a result I think it would be very difficult, nigh on impossible, to go any better than this copy.
Cover (Ex-) Remains in great condition and has clearly been looked after. There's no unsightly problems just a touch of ageing in the interior at the spine. A touch of edge wear and the text on the spine is still readable. In all other respects it is in excellent condition with good rigidity.
