HERE WE HAVE AN ORIGINAL UK EMI (7243 8 28984 1 2) FIRST PRESSING (March 30, 1994) OF PINK FLOYD'S "The Division Bell" - VERY HARD TO FIND AS AN ORIGINAL UK PRESSING ON VINYL

THE ALBUM SOLD IN HUGE NUMBERS ON CD BUT I DOUBT THAT MANY WERE EVER ACTUALLY ISSUED ON VINYL AS IN 1994 WHEN THIS WAS RELEASED THE NUMBER OF LPs PRESSED IN THE UK WAS PROBABLY AT ITS LOWEST POINT, REFLECTING THE LACK INTEREST IN THE MEDIUM WHEN EVERYONE WAS BUYING CDs - HENCE THE LPs SCARCITY TODAY

A (VERY) FEW ORIGINAL COPIES OF THIS LP HAVE PASSED THROUGH MY HANDS OVER THE YEARS BUT THIS IS ONLY THE SECOND ONE I HAVE OFFERED FOR SALE AS THEY HAVE INVARIABLY ALL SOUNDED REALLY TERRIBLE WITH EXCESSIVE SURFACE NOISE, CRACKLE AND CLICKING AND EVEN THOUGH THIS COPY DOES DISPLAY THESE PROBLEMS TO SOME EXTENT I STILL THINK IT IS WORTHY OF ATTENTION. NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF ITS RARITY BUT BECAUSE IT IS ACTUALLY ONE THE BETTER ONES I HAVE HEARD (see detailed assessment below)

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT and have NO wear, NO marks/writing and only a few light spindle traces
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces have their original DEEP, LIKE-NEW, GLOSSY SHEEN with just some light hairlines mostly caused by movement of the LP within its inner sleeve, one of which gives rise to a few clicks (see detailed assessment below)
VINYL Audio: As usual the beautiful soundscapes PINK FLOYD create are incredibly impressive with an astonishing dynamic range from the almost silent ambient detail to the loudest crescendos. All frequencies are BRIGHT and CLEAR with BEAUTIFULLY RICH, WARM and VERY STRONG audio. The mark mentioned above (on Side A, across the last three tracks) gives rise to some occasional clicks but very few of these rise above background level otherwise, the LP plays beautifully throughout with just some low level crackle evident on some (not all) of the quieter sections. Must be critically graded as VERY GOOD+ but as I mentioned earlier, in 1994 when this LP was pressed the care taken by manufacturers was nowhere near what it had been in the heyday of the LP. Vinyl was lighter weight and the grooves more shallowly cut resulting in the smallest specks of dust trapped within the inner sleeve scratching the surfaces resulting in audible clicking - something which would never happen with earlier thick pressed, deep cut vinyl. However, this is still one of the better playing copies I have heard and of course, the LP is fully guaranteed, so if you are unhappy with the quality of the audio (bearing in my my description) a return/refund would be no problem, but in all honesty I do not think you will find a much better copy
SLEEVE: The original laminated, thick spine gatefold cover is also in VERY GOOD+ condition. The sleeve is BEAUTIFULLY CLEAN and UNMARKED with a nice gloss but the side which holds the record has vinyl pressure wear to the centre of the top edge - it has not yet split through, but almost. There is also 'bumping' to the bottom corners of the cover (please see photos) but this is still an extremely nice sleeve and the spine text is CLEAR and BOLD
INNER SLEEVE: The lyric inner is in EXCELLENT condition with very little evidence of actually ever being handled. CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO splits. The LP is now housed - and will be posted in - a new inner to prevent any 'knifing' damage to the original during transit
