Pink Floyd : The Final Cut A-1U / B-2U 1st Press 1983

This first pressing is a stunning example of its kind.  Having played every track in full I can confirm it plays to the highest standard possible with no intrusion at all.  'As new' is no exaggeration and as my feedback testifies I grade with honesty and integrity.  The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is astounding and of course this album has many quiet sections.  I cannot emphasise enough how pristine the audio is and it easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE archive classic.  Underrated in my opinion you will not find a cleaner first pressing than this.  The vinyl is in superb condition and has been so well looked after over the years.  Purchased for the collection I would say and not often played.

The gatefold is incredibly clean with barely any wear and the original black inner sleeve is in great condition also.  The whole 'package' certainly has the wow factor!

Visual description

The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no scratches.  All I can see under a bright are a couple of ultra faint hairlines and a very small barely visible scuff which has zero affect on the superb audio.  The labels are unmarked and have only minimal spindle wear.

Play grading

The very quiet car / spoken intro on 'The Post War Dream' plays beautifully with only 3/4 barely audible statics and the vocal section / end chorus is good as the day it was first pressed.  A Mint start to this underrated album.

'Your Possible Pasts' is equal to that with a clarity, depth and power that can only be described 'as new'.  Seriously you would not believe just how clean and precise the audio is, there is not so much as a dust tick.  Mint

The segue into 'One Of The Few' has no background either and the acoustic intro is perfect.  It continues to play with sublime clarity through every section and Mint is again deserved.

'The Hero's Return' keeps up the standard and again the clarity and definition is 'as new'.  I was listening carefully to every note / beat and the audio depth is incredible.  Another Mint track.

The piano intro on 'The Gunner's Dream' plays with sensational clarity and Waters' opening vocal is just as impressive.  From then on this classic track plays with amazing audio and again there is nothing to detract from the Mint audio.  For an A1/B2 first pressing to play like this is a genuine rarity!  I cannot praise this version highly enough - it has a CD like clean aesthetic quality but with the warmth and depth you only find on vinyl.  The quieter passages play beautifully and the powerful sections play with great definition.  What a STUNNING version!  It is MINT in every sense of the word.

'Paranoid Eyes' ends the side with imperious quality from start to finish.  No need to elaborate it is Mint all the way.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The super quiet intro on 'Get Your Filthy Hands Of My Desert' followed by the bomb could not 'play' any better and the vocal section is just as clean and precise.  A Mint start to S2.

'The Fletcher Memorial Home' more than keeps up the standard and plays with sublime quality through every vocal and instrumental section.  There are a handful of mega quiet statics during the second verse so I will grade as Mint- but even including the minus is perhaps a little harsh as they are so so quiet.  The rest of the track cannot be faulted in any way.

'Southampton Dock' plays with stunning precision and then the title track 'The Final Cut' is superb!  The quiet intro is perfect and the sonic quality is just as strong as the volume increases.  The first chorus plays with such depth and resonance and it continues in exactly the same way.  A classic track in my opinion and I cannot overstate how perfect this version is.  Unequivocally a stunning Mint version as is SD.

As you would expect 'Not Now John' plays with genuine power and depth with no sign of any background.  Not a lot more to add this dynamic track could not play any better.  Every section is 'high octane' and yet there is no distortion on the top end.  Superb sonic quality.  Mint

'Two Suns In The Sunset' ends the album in fine style with... zero intrusion.  Once more you can only admire how well the previous owner looked after his records!  Every section plays to the highest standard possible and well, you know the grade.  A Mint conclusion and a FINAL UPGRADE first pressing in every way.

The Gatefold & Black Inner Sleeve

The cover is in fantastic condition but that is probably no surprise!  Only the bottom edges have a couple of very small faint rubs and the wide spine is in great shape.  All corners are so clean with barely any wear and the opening edge has no handling wear.  The front cover (with original sticker) is stunning and the back cover is just as impressive.  3/4 faint abrasions but you can only see them when you hold the cover at a certain angle under a bright light.  The inside of the gatefold is immaculate, you could hardly find a better example than this cover.  A superb example.

The ploy-lined die-cut black inner has only minimal creasing, no other wear, and is more or less 'as new'.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
