This auction is for an EXTREMELY RARE factory sealed TRUE 1st U.S. Pressing of Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here" released in 1975 by Columbia Records STEREO LP PC-33453. This album up for sale is the VERY FIRST PRESSING of this classic LP. The 1st pressings were unique. They came in the blue shrink wrap with the mechanical handshake sticker affixed to the outside of the shrinkwrap. ORIGINAL HARMONY RECORD STORE PRICE STICKER IS STILL AFFIXED TO THE BACK COVER! The price on the sticker is $5.99 but the ink has faded over the years so it's difficult to still see the price. Look closely toward the bottom of the Harmony price sticker and you can see it. This $5.99 sticker price is consistent with the retail price for the 1975 pressing! The thickness of the vinyl, blue shrinkwrap, original price sticker and the mechanical handshake hype sticker are all consistent with the ORIGINAL, FIRST US PRESSING OF THIS PARTICULAR ALBUM! CONDITION: NEAR MINT; The blue shrinkwrap has white spots from the album cover showing through the shrink. So there are a few minor white areas showing through the shrink from the album sitting on a shelf for nearly 40 years. It's EXTREMELY common for this particular pressing. In fact, most of these factory sealed pressings still in the blue shrinkwrap are MUCH worse than this one. The corners and spine area show this more than anywhere else. The photos actually make it look a little worse than it actually appears. Overall this album looks pretty phenomenal for a 38 year old album! All of the flaws can be seen in the auction photos. Sorry for the quality of the photos. It's a little too dark. The album cover is definitely the correct blue color. My camera needs to be upgraded. Other than the minor shelf wear on the cover, this album is in NEAR MINT++ condition! I've been collecting Pink Floyd album for 15 years and this is one of the best copies I've EVER seen! Over the last few years, these FACTORY SEALED "WISH YOU WERE HERE" LPs in the blue shrinkwrap have sold on ebay for between $400 to $550. So please don't waste my time with low ball offers of $200 to $250. The current market value for this album is between $400 and $550, so that's what I would like to get for it. If you find a WYWH album that sold for less than that, odds are it was sold at least 4 or 5 years ago. The record collecting market has taken off in the last couple of years. So albums, such as this one, will continue to increase in value. This is a FANTASTIC investment! This particular pressing offered here is definitely in better shape than most of the other examples that have sold on eBay! Do some research and you'll see exactly what I mean. If you keep this album in it's current condition, you could probably sell it for $1,000 or more in a few years. I don't want to let it go, but I am having financial difficulties and don't have a choice. Below are some recent examples of this album on eBay. Here is a copy that sold for over $500.
