Description
Make no mistake: Finding "Surfer Rosa" on vinyl is DEAD EASY. If you don't care for the pressing and mastering. Finding it as UK firstpress in 100% complete condition is... NOT SO EASY. Here we have one: Comes in a very desirable textured sleeve and with an inner made from matte, golden cardboard. There actually were TWO Variants: The very first run made from matte, golden cardboard and later editions with glossy, golden cardboard. To create confusion both variants could contain the same vinyl pressing. Speaking of the vinyl: This has the first press matrix: "CAD 803" plus "A1" and "B1" plus "MPO" (for the UK) and "JA" (for the cutter) on both sides. Side One also contains "With An F", Side Two "Nudism".
The vinyl is in EXCELLENT condition with only the faintest of surface marks which is rare since the cardboard inner is likely to scratch the record's surface if not handeled properly. The outer sleeve is VERY GOOD+ but that is the very thing with these textured, white sleeves. They show their age more than other covers, a bit of ringwear on the back, some mild rubbing and dirtying on front and back. No seamsplit and a fully readable spine. In recent years I've actually NEVER seen a speciman of this - or JD's "Closer" - that looked better than "VERY GOOD+". The inner is EXCELLENT.
All in all a nice example of a classic album!
