Description: This is a very nice condition copy of the first album by the Portsmouth Sinfonia, which was issued in the US by the Columbia label in 1974.
Additional Info: Classic album of famous pieces as played by the Portsmouth Sinfonia, who, as you probably know, was comprised of both trained musicians as well as amateurs. Their stated goal was to play the pieces as accurately as possible, and this was met with varying degrees of success. The resulting performances are in a category all of their own, and have mystified and intrigued listeners for decades. Considering Brian Eno's strong involvement in these recordings, its surprising that there wasn't a Portsmouth Sinfonia release on his Obscure label, but there's probably a valid reason for that I'm just not privy to. Whatever the case, this record has always been sought after, but was never particularly easy to find, so here's a really nice copy to add to your collection.
