PROF LONGHAIR Jazz NEW ORLEANS:88 10 Iinch LP UK or USA
You are bidding on the following item.
This is an original 10” album by Professor Longhair called “New Orleans:88”. Cat. No. SPEAKEASY LP10-78. It is an odd pressing as it looks to be a US record cover but the vinyl has a UK profile and pressing marks. Released in the early seventies, the tracks are all material recorded 1953-59. These would be the 78 RPM sides made for the R&B market in his native New Orleans compiled onto a long play. There is a mention of his comeback at the New Orleans Jazz Festival in 1971, but that’s about as far as the liner note goes so we have to assume this is from that period. Virtually a custom pressing the tracks are, Side One: Go To the Mardi Gras / Looka No Hair / Everyday, Everynight / Tipitina / Boyd’s Bounce. Side Two: Baby Let Me Hold your Hand / If I Only Knew / Cuttin’ Out / East St. Louis Baby / In the Night. Sonically some of the transfers are a little ordinary but it is totally rare. The cover is VG+ with ageing marks. The record is in EXCELLENT condition.
