PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original 39 years ago first press with a MINT platter, not a bad track in the bunch, either side. The Pretty Things were beat-gods in the '60s, more swagger and style than the Rolling Stones or anyone else that side of the Beatles. By the late '60s they progressed into the acid-rock scene and engaged within to a high standards of standardness ...in their ranks the legendary "TWINK"

In the mid '60s The Pretty Things were one of the most potent and enjoyable assemblages of British Invasion R&B that one is ever likely to hear. Their output went head-to-head with anything the Rolling Stones or the Animals were putting out at the time and match them for quality and intensity. The Lp covers the bands golden era 1967-1975 years,and is even more interesting musically, coinciding with the group's move into psychedelia and progressive rock with strong overtones of The Beatles circa Abbey Road era. It's fascinating to hear the group adapt their basic blues sound to the newer forms, with results such as "Talkin' About the Good Times," which featured a Mellotron, and also move into their crafty stereo mixing of "The Good Mr. Square" with speaker panning and phasing and ; they apply the new sound to "Blue Serge Blues" (a rare non-LP B-side) in an effort at adapting psychedelia to blues, which comes off somewhere midway between the Creation and the Beatles (not a bad place to land.)
Of special interest is the non-LP 1967 single "Defecting Grey," a brilliant cop of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd. Its B-side ("Mr. Evasion") and the follow-up single, "Talkin' About the Good Times"/"Walking Through My Dreams," were also non-LP, and also rank among the more coveted rarities of the early British psychedelic era.
