Description

This looks like an interesting and rare find. It is an original copy of The Perry Bradford Story on Crispus-Attucks Records, recorded and released in 1957 and signed in ink on the back by Perry Bradford. The record is in M- unplayed condition and the cover is maybe a shade below M-. I looked on Popsike and couldn't find another copy of this record in any condition. It is not just the music of Perry Bradford, it is also his stories behind the music as told to Noble Sissle. On the back there is a headline: "The Truth About Rock and Roll" with pictures of Elvis Presley, among others. It states: "Once scoffed at by whites as dirty music, rock 'n roll's brassy lyrics and barrelhouse beats have been parlayed into a half billion dollar industry in which white singers get 'filthy' rich while Negroes, the originators, get poor pay and little credit." My expertise is in jazz not blues, but this looks like a very nice and rare collectible, with a reasonable start price and no reserve.
