Description
1st Quadraphonic pressing of AHM on the UK Harvest label from July 1973. Matrix A1/B2. Stampers 1G/1G. The perimeter text on the label states 'Gramophone'. All of these details infer a very early first quad pressing, in fact, with the 1G stampers this is almost certainly from the very first batch ever pressed. AHM was the first Pink Floyd LP to be specifically mixed for quad delivery. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover bearing the SQ logo. Also included here is the original quadraphonic inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. The audio cut on this LP mirrors the very 1st issues as it has the tap dripping into the run-out groove. Effectively, the tap drips indefinitely until you turn it off!
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) A truly immaculate looking slab of vinyl - shiny like the day it rolled off the press. Judging by the shimmering surface and minimal spindle traces this LP has only seen light use. Under close inspection we struggled to make out a single mark. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback. The audio comes across with prefect clarity and only light occasional interference. We detected some light static for the first couple of minutes on either side and a bit in the mid section of Side 1. But other than that playback is superb and you can really hear the complex audio being rendered perfectly with great tonal balance. A lot of these early copies were quick to deteriorate so decent early copies are not easy to come by.
Cover (Ex-) Has been well cared for and only exhibits some light handling wear. A touch of wear on the edges and the spine. But overall it maintains excellent rigidity and there are no hidden rips or tears lurking anywhere.
Inner (Ex) No spits or ageing. Just some light creasing.
