Description

Stop-this is not mint

Hi and thanks for looking at this listing for a seriously rare beast indeed. This is the very first, and short lived, Yellow/Black label with the extra 33 1/3. These discs seldom come up for sale, regardless of condition.

The version of The Beatles Please please me is far rarer than the much hallowed Gold Label. Every day ebay has Gold labels for sale mono/stereo/re-pro, take your pick. How often does the extra 33 1/3 label come up for sale? I got a decent Gold label two years before I found an extra  33 1/3. Not just one that I could afford, one that I had actually seen!

This is a 1N/1N copy, with Mothers/Stampers 1GT / 2RR

The label side two reveals the Tax code MT. There is a slight blemish to the label side two, but is otherwise without grafitti etc.

Ok, to be honest I'm absolutely gutted, because it has a slight jump on side two. It is, otherwise, an almost flawless play, with a great clear, strong sound. There is some light crackle in places evident on headphones. And, also being honest, I had a really hard time deciding to sell it. Having just managed to get another copy(that doesn't jump) I was torn between keeping this because it is shiny and sounds nice(better, in fact than the one I'm keeping). I admit to having kept my original sleeve. But, hey, this is going to be bought for the sleeve!

The sleeve has a stain on the back(See pics), and the bottom seam is torn. It is, however, the much desired E.J.Day sleeve. Whilst, obviously, flawed, the front picture is in good condion, and the spine is strong, showing the title clearly.

Anyone within shouting distance of Basildon, Essex is welcome to come and view/listen before buying.

On a good day, a stone mint copy of this version of Please please me could fetch £500. Obviously this will not go anywhere near that, but it does illustrate the rarity and desirability of this disc.

I sell to fund my own passion for Beatles records.

Free postage to the UK only for BIN. Worldwide, wait for invoice.

Returns accepted if you think my listing is misleading, buyer pays return postage. However, I believe I have given an honest appraisal of this record. I do not want disappointed buyers and returns. If it's trashed I will say so.
