“Pretties for you” was not released in Australia. This album is an imported product which I purchased from an import store in the 1980s.

Pretties for you was initially released in 1969. The labels on “Pretties for You” commenced being printed with images of palm trees after 1973, so this current album was not produced between 1969 and 1973.

Matrix runouts can be notoriously difficult to read on a record album’s “dead zone” (The dead zone is the area between the last song on the album and the commencement of the record label.

I have interpreted the impression on the matrix runout (side one) as reading WS-1-1840 – WW1 . This is followed by an image of a triangle. I cannot through a google search or a perusal of Discogs find a copy of this album with that specific matrix runoff number.

The closest I can find is a copy of the album issued in 1976 in the United States with the following runoff number : WS-2-1840- JW1 - The first W in WW1 has been replaced by a “J”.

I believe that given that the album was purchased in the 80s, that this is likely to be the album that was produced in 1976.

Pretties for you was the first album released by Alice Cooper (The band). If you are a fan of the music produced by Alice Cooper (The individual) throughout the 70s and the 80’s, you may find this album a bit jarring.

Discogs describes the album as Psychedelic rock/Hard rock - I cant imagine a single being released from the album (OK, maybe “Reflected” on side two…not to be confused with “Elected” from the Billion Dollar babies album.

The album is for collectors or fans only. It is a gatefold album cover that has been kept in immaculate condition. The face of the album cover is excellent however there are 2 white spots at the top right hand corner which might be where a price label was removed. They are smooth when running a finger over them (see photo). The rear side and the spine have been maintained so they appear like new. There is a paper sleeve inside the album which houses the record. This is also in very good condition with only a small tear, some creasing and a bit of mottling marring its condition.

There is some mild fading in the centre display photograph of the gatefold, that this does not take away from the overall quality of the album. The photo on the rear of the album has a young Alice (Vince) sporting considerably lighter coloured hair than what fans were to become use to later in his career

The album itself has only been played twice (The second time when I undertook a quality check of the album before placing the album on sale for EBay. The album is in pristine condition and plays extremely well on both sides without “pops” or crackles.
