Jazz 1U/1U (1st pressing with Attached Poster)

This early first pressing has audio of superb standard and the infamous poster is still attached to the gatefold, a rarity today.  The gatefold is also in lovely condition.

 Visual grading

This vinyl is very impressive and has no scratches at all.  There are a few very faint sleeve removal hairlines but as per the grading they are not to the detriment of the stunning audio.  It retains a very healthy glossy sheen and has super clean run out grooves also.

Play grading

S1 has no lead in static and then the intro on 'Mustapha' has audio that can only be described as Mint- the clarity is stunning.  There was not even one dust tick let alone a click or pop.  I am pleased to say the rest of the track plays to the same standard.  Great power and such strong bass.  What a start!  'Fat Bottomed Girls' from the off plays with superb sound and only a minor touch of mega light static, nothing intrusive.  The remainder is without fault, just a couple of dust ticks but again no clicks, pops or crackle.  For such a quiet track 'Jealousy' plays with stunning audio and is not far off Mint- apart from a little quiet static on the fade out.  Rarely have I heard this little gem play so clearly.  'Bicycle Race' is immaculate from start to finish and even the silent section prior to the 'bell ringing' has no 'background'.  One of 'cleanest' versions I have heard in a long time.  The underrated 'If You Can't Beat Them' is nigh on perfect with no 'background' and perhaps more impressively no distortion, something you sometimes find on this track.  'Let Me Entertain You' ends with S1 with excellent power and depth but with a little distortion this time.  This always occurs on this track, don't let anyone say different!  It's generally caused by the grooves being pressed too close together in order to 'fit' the track onto the side.  It still has 'high end' clarity with no clicks or pops.

'Dead On Time' has superlative power from the first groove.  It then plays loud and true and classifies as Mint- the quality could not be improved upon.  The more I play this 1U/1U first press the more I cannot believe what I am hearing!  'In Only Seven Days' again plays with perfect precision.  Absolutely faultless with no clicks or pops.  There is a little intermittent static during 'Dreamers Ball' but it is very much in background and totally non-intrusive.  I'm sure the majority of sellers would not mention it as it hardly counts as interference but as my regulars know I will write everything I hear however minor.  And this static is minor believe me, it is not crackle!  'Fun It' is almost Mint- bar a tiny hint of static on one 5 second section.  The remainder is 'as new' the clarity is first class.  'Leaving Home Ain't Easy' plays perfectly from start to finish and even the quiet end section has no 'background'.  The classic 'Don't Stop Me Now' exudes stunning power and depth from the first groove and impresses with no interference of any kind.  Absolutely stunning!  'More Of That Jazz' ends this fine album with fantastic audio and barely any distortion.  A stunning finale.

In summary this is another final upgrade archive vinyl on offer here.  How often will you find a genuine 1U/1U first pressing that plays as clearly as this and without a single click or pop?  The clarity is of the highest standard and with the bare minimum of light static on one track only this is a rare find.  Not only that but the gatefold is in exemplary condition with the poster still attached!  A highly collectable album that will add to any 'high end' collection.

The Gatefold

This is one lovely gatefold!  You won't find many cleaner and there is very little shelf wear.  It of course has the embossed 'Jazz' logo on the front and back cover and as stated includes the poster which is about 90% attached.  The edges have hardly any rubbing, just a little more by the corners.  The corners themselves have only minor rubbing, there is just one tiny crease on the bottom right one.  The wide spine is in excellent shape with only the usual crease lines caused by the gatefold being opened.  The opening edge has no handling wear at all.  The front cover is extremely clean with only a little fading around the top but this can only be seen when held at a certain angle.  The back cover is in superb condition and has barely any fading on the white background and the inside of the gatefold is in immaculate order with no marking.  A great example of this iconic cover and will not disappoint.

The Poster & Picture inner

The attached poster is in fantastic condition with no marking, tears or creasing.

Produced on heavy duty card the glossy inner has no splits or marks and no rubbing on the edges, one of the best I have seen in a long time.  There is just one minor crease on one of the bottom corners.

The labels

They are in great shape with no marking or writing and only a little spindle wear.
