RAMASES - GLASS TOP COFFIN
Rare and sought after prog gem with sparingly played vinyl, overall superb audio quality, and original gorgeous outer gatefold sleeve
Year/Label : 1975 VERTIGO UK Label number : 6360 115 STEREO Matrix numbers : 6360115 1Y//3 420, 6360115 2Y//2 420 Stampers : 05 1 13 / 03 11 13Excellent plus (EX+) condition vinyl retaining it's original jet black lacquered sheen and in normal daylight comes across as completely unmarked - a real gleamer. It is only with very close inspection under a bright light that on side 1 two very wispy hairlines come into view along with a tiny scuff mark at the end of A1 - each is non-obvious (you will need to look really closely to identify them) and non-feelable though the tiny scuff mark does result in x7 light rotational clicks and a little very light rotational background crackle at the very end of A1; and on side 2 there is one small and extremely fine wispy hairline towards the beginning of this side and a couple of equally fine line paper scuffs - again non-obvious, non-feelable, and purely superficial with no impact at all upon the wonderful stereo sound quality. The cherished Vertigo "spaceship" labels (this record was never released on the Vertigo "swirl" label) are near mint (NM) - pristine, with not even the usual one or two rogue spindle trails. Clearly, this is a record that has been only sparingly played. An excellent (EX) condition non-laminated iconic outer sleeve with firm unscuffed edges, rigid spine with all spine text remaining perfectly intact, nicely defined right-angled corners with absolutely minimal rubbing and just the hint of some very minor compression at each spine end, firm opening edges with no fraying, and gorgeous art work. Indeed, all colours, art work, photos and text remain vibrant and beautifully intact. The interior of the gatefold remains near mint. Such an iconic and beautiful LP cover - I love it! Excellent plus (EX+) stereo sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, or distortion and the only clicks and crackle are the aforementioned x7 light clicks and 30 seconds of very light intermittent background crackle the end of A1....for that reason a more accurate grading would be "excellent" for side 1 and "near mint" for side 2. Great tone and clarity with every track a great listen - such an underrated and "under the radar" LP - as is the case with Ramases' first LP ("Space Hymns") there is not a weak track on this LP. Comes with original and excellent condition plain white poly-lined "PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS" inner sleeve with no splits or edge fraying and just some mild creasing in one corner. There is a number (43 160) written in one corner but I have no idea what this refers to! Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. In my opinion, this LP and Space Hymns remain two of the 70's truly great prog albums, and with other people increasingly taking a similar view it is little wonder that 1st pressings of these two gems are becoming hard to find - especially in condition as truly impressive as this!

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
