Description
Original 12” Capitol lacquer/reference acetate featuring “What’s New?” by Maynard Ferguson with the Stan Kenton Orchestra.
Hand-etched matrix number: 45-684-D4.
Blank label disc with matrix information inscribed in the dead wax area. Recording presents a raw, unpolished sound compared to commercially available versions, consistent with the nature of studio/reference acetates. Any differences in production or mastering have not been researched or verified and are left to the buyer to evaluate.
There are some scratches and signs of age and use present, as expected with vintage acetate recordings. Despite the cosmetic wear, the disc plays completely through and sounds very good for what it is.
A video with sound is included as part of the listing so prospective buyers can hear the actual recording and judge the playback quality for themselves.
A scarce and desirable piece for collectors of Maynard Ferguson, Stan Kenton, Capitol Records, and vintage jazz memorabilia.
Please examine all photos carefully for condition. Due to the fragile nature of vintage acetate recordings, this item is being sold AS IS with no returns. Playback equipment and settings can affect sound quality. No guarantees are made regarding alternate takes, mastering variations, or uniqueness.
Please view pics as they are part of the description. Sold AS IS, no returns.
