Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. MEGA RARE 1966 Original first pressing in glorios MONO and on the obscure Italian Intercord label. The Doc Thomas Group were a formidable "beat-rock" group from England, which equals to the USA "garage-rock" '60s scene.
Featuring MICK RALPHS who went on to stardom with Mott The Hoople and super stardom with BAD COMPANY...
Like fellow British beat-rock groups the "Primitives" and the "Sorrows," the Doc Thomas Group's only 1966 LP was released in Italy remaining unissued in their native U.K. homeland. The group had all the strengths of both the Sorrows & Primitives delivering a decidedly aggressive set of popular 'raves' showcasing their talents with no studio 'backing arrangements' additives. A short overview follows:
In the mid-60's a group of young hopefuls from Hereford England were playing the "dues-paying" circuit in places like Hamburg (Germany) and in Italy where they were met with slightly more success than they found in Great Britain. Fact is England had a massive outpouring of beat-rock bands with hopes of becoming the next Rolling Stones or Animals, and so many fine groups such as the Doc Thomas Group were frankly buried in overflowing output. Like most groups, they went through various line-up and name changes, but in late 1966 the Doc Thomas Group (Stan Tippins, Mick Ralphs, Dave Tedstone, Pete Watts and Bob Hall) were booked in to a studio for a day to get their act down on tape. They recorded a full set of tracks and thought nothing more of it until early in 1967 when suddenly a 12-track LP appeared (issued only in Italy.) The album sank without a trace due to poor distribution by the Intercord label. Flash forward near 50 years explains as to why the LP is by far so little seen.
However, two years later, in 1969, with a couple more line-up and name changes, The Doc Thomas Group(Stan Tippins, Mick Ralphs, Pete Watts, Terry Allen, Dale Griffin) auditioned for producer Guy Stevens at Island Records. Stevens liked them and wanted to sign them, but insisted on one more line-up and name change: out went vocalist Stan Tippins, in came singer-songwriter Ian Hunter, and Mott The Hoople was born...
Mind you, The Doc Thomas Lp is about as far from Mott The Hoople as you're going to get. The style is very mid-60's beat-rock with strong vocals -- sometimes snarly shouting, and led by farfisa organ and reverb/fuzz guitar. The performance is strong and clear, since these tracks were recorded almost "live" in the studio. A press release at the time stated that both mono and stereo copies of the LP would be available. However, no stereo copies have ever been sighted. The master tapes for this LP have disappeared (three years searching proved fruitless), and when the compact disc (CD) was issued about 10 years ago the CD producers had to use a copy of the vinyl to record over to the CD format. The Lp to CD transfer reduced the overall CD sound quality, which by comparison, the LP unveils a brighter response and depth. *Stan Tippins - Vocals

CONDITION: The cover: Sharp! Stiff and solid with fresh original colors and this is the fragile Italian '66 first press! Rated: near "EX" (excellent) there is really only a light bit of wear at top center, like a short thin partial ring ...otherwise clean all over including a clean (M-) back cover ... has no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... collection worthy rarity ...
The vinyl: Clean and glossy over both sides, rated: M- TOP COPY, really hard to find at all, but a disc so clean is really special...49 years old and plays flawless! Does not have any distracting surface problems ... both Italian Intercord labels are clean
