Description

YORKVILLE EVOLUTION - SONUS EVOLVENS LP
RARE ...1967 first Mono pressing of great garage/psych, etc LP centering on the Canadian garage/punk & psych scene...this is a really thick old sixties pressing, the platter and cover are weight heavy.
YORKVILLE EVOLUTION is the first and better of two underground group overviews that were released on the Canadian Yorkville label...the same label that released the MONSTER status UGLY DUCKLINGS Lp and yes they're here with a great NON-LP track.
YORKVILLE EVOLUTION features some cool Canadian garage punk, psych and garage-soul bands, including the Ugly Ducklings, The Stitch in Tyme, the Sugar Shoppe, Terry Black and the Quiet Jungle, to name a few. Housed in a nifty go-go strobe light dancing girl cover. The highlights include the classic dark ominous 60?s garage punk cool “Gaslight” by the Ugly Ducklings, with its apocalyptic drums, swirly string acid trip vibe and cavernous echoplex effects. Even better, possibly, is an unexpected Eastern hookah tent turn by soft poppers the Sugar Shoppe on “Attitude,” which spins out of control on a whirligig of sawing strings, Eastern bellydance vibes, and all kinds of echoed-out nursery rhyme toybox sound effects. It’s a nifty little slice of turned-on soft pop, like Syd Barrett jamming with the Free Design on a rainy afternoon, with a message to boot. “Drop the attitude, baby!”And little gnomes stay in their homes… Quiet Jungle released a sought after garage 45 that made the Nightmares Of The Underworld psych series and Terry Black had the $$$ rare garage Lp The 'Black Plague', and The Big Town Boys had highly rare collectible and expensive beatrock Lp...as well as other sixties notables...

CONDITION
Thick laminated cover is VG+ with a few small creases and small chips on edge and corner ding, back cover has brown foxing spots around the edge, otherwise clean presentable front image and collector worthy.
Thick heavyweight vinyl is a strong VG+ very close to EX with hairlines, plays back with light 'dust' sounds, a bit more present on the Terry Black track, otherwise the original fidelity is intact, free of skips and sounds great. Clean labels free of spindle mark. PLAYBACK GRADED using Musichall MMF-05 turntable with goldring cartridge, Sansui amplifier with high and low frequencies on.
Should be of great interest to many collectors, in that this 52 year old obsure collectible is not around, and contains some cool artifacts from the Canadian underground sixties scene!
A cool addition to your psychedelic / garage music collection!
