RARE G MEN AGAINST CRIME WAR OF THE WORLDS 16" RADIO SHOW TRANSCRIPTION DISC

THIS IS A VERY INTERESTING RADIO TRANSCRIPTION DISC CONTAINING PORTIONS OF TWO VERY RARE RADIO BROADCASTS.  APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES ON THIS 16 INCH, BLACK LACQUER, 33 1/3 RPM DISC.    THIS DISC WAS RECORDED FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY AND NOT AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.  VERY RARE! 

"G-MEN AGAINST CRIME" radio program from May 21, 1939.  This is the last approximately 15 minutes of a 30 minute radio program only and includes the closing announcement.  This is a rare program as I could not find any surviving copies of any episodes of this radio program.   This was an excellent series about the F. B. I..  The program was produced in New York for broadcast by The B. B. C.   Program features American actors, written by William N. Robson & Travis Ingham and produced by William N. Robson.  It's suggested on the label that the program was recorded at too high a level for playback, however I found the sound quite good, specifically very good to excellent sound!    Sounds like a direct line check from the source of the program

"MERCURY THEATER OF THE AIR" radio program from October 30, 1938 titled "War Of The Worlds" starring Orson Welles.   This is the last approximately 15 minutes of a 60 minute program only, along with the closing announcement by Orson Welles, including what sounds like Wells calming the radio audience after the story.   The sound on this side of the disc is very good, there is some significant surface noise on the first 3-4 minutes, however the sound improves.   It sounds like this disc was made from other discs, as the tone of the broadcast slightly changes about half way through the disc.   This is obviously a very rare transcription disc, from the most famous radio broadcast of all time!

"SCRAP" is written on the G-Men Against Crime label - I suspect that this disc was intended to be destroyed during the scrap metal drives of World War Two - someone saved this disc, and saved a part of radio history!
