Description

Two 12 inch 78 rpm uncoated aluminum discs recorded by Aircheck Electrical Transcription from NBC, KFI Los Angeles

These two discs contain excerpts from two rare, early radio broadcasts

“MJB Demitasse Revue” radio program excerpt from February 5, 1934 featuring a remote broadcast starring Guy Lombardo & His Royal Canadians from The Coconut Grove in The Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles .    Discs contain the opening theme / introduction / announcements and the following songs by Guy Lombardo & The Royal Canadians “You’re OK” vocal by male chorus, “What’s Good For The Goose Is Good For The Gander” vocal Male Chorus, “Medley From (the musical) Roberta”, “My Little Grass Shack In Kealakekua” (incomplete).  These discs contain the first approximately 11 ½ minutes of the program, I’m not sure of the original program’s duration.  Extremely rare, early Guy Lombardo material

The labels on the discs say parts 5, 7 and 8, however I believe these are actually parts 1, 2 and 3 – as they contain the program introduction / opening announcements / theme, and they flow from one disc to the next – as the “Medley From Roberta” is on two discs.  Also, it appears that the labels on one of the discs was reversed, and one of the labels lists the song “I’ll Do Anything That You Do” which is not on the discs.

“The Carnation Contented Hour” radio program excerpt from February 5, 1934.  The label says this is part 5, but it is actually part 1 as it includes the opening introduction announcement / theme.  An unidentified orchestra plays “Moonlight On The Ganges”  Approximately 4 minutes.  I’m not sure how long the original program was I could not find any reference to any Carnation Contented Hour radio program prior to 1937

The discs are in very good condition with very good sound.  These are some of the better sounding uncoated aluminum discs I have heard
