RARE “HENRY SWEET HENRY” PRE-BROADWAY DEMO LP WITH 5 CUT SONGS W/COA!
“Henry Sweet Henry” is one of the legendary Broadway flops that was based on the hit Peter Sellers movie called “The World of Henry Orient” (1964). With that source material, a big name director like George Roy Hill of “Butch Cassidy” fame, music & lyrics by Bob Merrill (“Funny Girl,” “Carnival”), and a long loved Hollywood star like Don Ameche, it SEEMED like a can’t miss proposition but it did--by a mile! The musical previewed in Detroit and later premiered on Broadway, but quickly disappeared. An LP and a later CD of the musical preserved the Broadway version, but here we have a pre-Broadway demonstration record with seven songs -- five of which were cut before Broadway. All seven songs come with sheet music. PLEASE NOTE: these songs are NOT performed by Ameche and the other Broadway cast members, but instead by professional studio session singers. Also note: one side of the LP is blank. The record is in Very good (VG) condition, but given the rarity of this record, allowances audio-wise should be made. This item comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
