Only two in this series have ever come up for sale on Ebay, and this particular issue has never been offered.
This is a single sided disc.
Matrix reads FS-73376
A previously sold one was dated 1932 and I am guessing this is also.
Starts with Nipper barking and an announcer saying “Ladies & gentlemen, His Master's Voice Of The Air”. He then talks up Victor.
Unknown orchestra plays an excerpt of “On The Trail” from Grofe's “Grand Canyon Suite” (Found out from the transcription group that this is Nat Shitkret)
Next our announcer is back, introducing:
Conrad Thibault, concert baratone, singing O'Hara's “De Captain Of De Margatite” accompanied by Theodore Wahlstrom, piano. (Wiki says this was Victor 1583)
Announcer talks up the Victor Home Recording Device. Says you can go into any dealer at any time and make a record for free.
Finally, the Victor Concert Orchestra plays Tchaikovsky's “Sleeping Beauty Waltz”
Announcer tells us to tune in next week.
Visually, this record is fantastic. Only a couple of small light scratches. VG++.
I played this using an Ortofon 78 stylus so YMMV. Pretty steady surface noise similar to a 78 but not quite as overpowering. You do get an occasional pop but for the most part the sound is great for a record from this era.
I tried this with a standard Ortofon LP stylus and it is not made for that! You will need a special stylus to enjoy this.
Overall, this is a beautiful copy of an ultra rare record.
This has been with me around thirty years now, and I hope it is as treasured in it's new home as it was with me.
Comes in a Disc-O-File 14” sleeve.
